Carmen Scoggins (MA, '98) and Valerie Daratony (BS, '18) were recognized with benchmark career awards during the recent Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC) Conference held in Durham. Carmen received the Honorary Life Membership Award which is given to a longtime member who has made significant contributions to FLANC and the teaching profession. Valerie received the Jane Mitchell-Manolita Buck Scholarship which is award to one student who is in the final steps of earning their teacher licensure in a world language in North Carolina.
