Personal Bio

Yunuen Gómez-Ocampo focuses her research on twentieth- and twenty-first century Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean studies; community engagement; translation and interpretation; cultural studies; migration studies, and gender theory. Through her research and teaching, she investigates the concept of the body within the context of violence and forced displacement in Latin American and Latinx writers, artists, and communities. Her interdisciplinary study draws from contemporary discussions on Abya Yala thought, borderlands theory, gender studies, human mobility, testimonial genres, and visual art in relation to migration, trauma, and memory.
