Casey Boyatt

Casey Boyatt earned her BA and her MA in Spanish from Appalachian State University in 2011 and 2012, respectively. She taught for the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures from 2012 to 2016. She also taught as an adjunct for Emory and Henry College from 2015 to 2016. Beginning this fall, Casey will be a full-time Spanish instructor at Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC.

Casey presented her research at the 16th Annual Celebration of Student Research and Creative Endeavors held annually in the Plemmons Student Union at Appalachian State University. Additionally, she presented at the Spanish Linguistics in North Carolina (SLINKI) 2013 conference at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. Casey is also involved as a member in the Foreign Language Association of North Carolina (FLANC).

Regarding the graduate program, Casey shared her appreciation for the director, Dr. Beverly Moser, saying, “Dr. Moser is very proactive in finding positions for alumni. She always asks my plans to keep an eye for things that might fit me.” Regarding the summer institute, Casey shared that the institute, “creates lifelong friendships.” She said that she keeps in touch with the peers she met here and gains information and resources through the professional networks that she developed here. Of the faculty, she said, “All the professors have your best interests at heart. They want to see you succeed. They will help you in every way that they can.”
