I teach in Russian and English and my research and teaching interests include Russian and Slavic Literature in Translation, the methodology of teaching Russian courses for ASU students.

Academic achievement

Major publications and research projects have been the subject of papers delivered at conferences across Europe, Asia, and America. Dedicated to the historical development of the Russian language from the XVII to XIX century, these papers have been published in Cambridge, MA and have been highly cited in works of Russian colleagues.

In 2011, 2012, and 2013, I applied for and received StarTalk grants from the U. S. State Department to develop Russian as one of the Critical Languages on campus. In 2013, I was awarded Excellence of Teaching Russian by the Central-American Association of Russian Teachers. Currently, I am translating a first-hand memoir of a gulag prisoner. In three recent years, I have taken students on summer study programs to Moscow.

Personal Bio

As travel is vital to learning, I have journeyed extensively throughout eastern and western Europe, western Asia and China, America, the Caribbean, and drove to the Arctic Circle.
